There are 2 types of people in this world. The ones that hit snooze until they’re only left with 5 minutes to head out the door, and the ones who are up at the crack of dawn ready to start their day.
As much as we all hate to admit it, waking up 5 minutes before you’re due at work can really affect how the rest of your day pans out. Setting a positive intention for the day in those early hours of the morning by having a solid morning routine in place, helps set you up for a productive and successful day.
So to help you create an A.M routine that will start your day on a positive note, we’ve rounded up the five things you should add into your morning, that will help you gain that extra energy and motivation you desire!
- Hold off on reaching for your phone
Giving yourself at least an hour before you reach for your phone will allow you to start your day in a more productive and positive way. Instead of reading those pesky work emails or scrolling endlessly through Instagram, give yourself time away from your phone and maybe try spending your morning learning something new or doing a quick workout.
- Make your bed
It might sound like such a basic task/chore but surprisingly research shows that people who make their bed every morning tend to feel happier and more productive. This is mainly due to the small sense of accomplishment you feel from completing a task. Not to mention, how much your future self will thank you, come night-time.
Boost your beauty from the inside out

- Set aside 5 minutes to mediate
No morning routine would be complete without mentioning mediation, it can help you begin your day on a more centered, positive tone. All meditating really comprises of, is getting your mind in the right headspace, to help you feel calmer and more focused ready to start the day. There are some great apps available like Headspace and Smiling Mind, if you need some guidance.
- Write a to-do list
After you’re in the right state of mind from your mediation session now’s the perfect time to write or type up a simple to-do list. This step will allow you to wrap your head around everything you need to get done today and help you avoid feeling overwhelmed. From this list you should prioritise three things you deem as most important to achieve to help you determine what you should focus on.
So, resist the temptation to keep hitting that snooze button and get yourself into a morning routine that sets you up for a high energy and effective day!
What does your morning routine look like? We’d love to know.
